Sourcing and Quality Standards

Buying ingredients at industrial scale is a documentation exercise. The core documents are the product specification, which defines measurable properties such as DE, moisture, or amino nitrogen, and the certificate of analysis, which shows that a specific batch met those limits. Allergen, GMO, and halal statements round out the file for most markets.

Certification schemes provide the assurance layer behind the paperwork. HACCP and GMP are the baseline; ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and BRCGS are common third-party-audited standards. In Malaysia, JAKIM halal certification is a commercial necessity for many buyers, and contaminant limits — such as those for 3-MCPD in hydrolysed proteins — are checked batch by batch.
